Good for pickup games

I was looking for a platform to manage our weekly pickup basketball games and Open Sports had a free trial. It worked out well! We got our first event free, which was nice to test it out. I ended up signing up for the annual billing to get the discount. Definitely felt like I got good value for what I paid to manage RSVPs and payments for our group.

Easy to use, mostly

I just needed something simple to handle our club's recurring memberships. Open Sports was pretty straightforward to set up. The payment processing for sports was smooth, though it took me a minute to figure out the reporting side of things. All in all, it did what I needed, and the members didn't complain about signing up. It's a solid choice if you're not looking for anything too fancy.

Loved it for our league!

This platform is amazing! I used Open Sports for our adult soccer league, and it made everything so easy. The League Management Software was incredibly intuitive, and setting up our tournament brackets was a breeze. Player RSVPs were simple, and the automated refunds worked perfectly when we had a rainout. I'm telling all my organizer friends about it; we'll absolutely be using it again next season!

Thinking of switching from TeamSnap, but curious about transaction fees. Like, how much does OpenSports take per payment?

L Linda Wright 3 weeks ago
Yeah, good question. I remember checking that. I think it was pretty standard for these kinds of platforms, but it definitely adds up if you have a lot of players.

I compared it to LeagueApps a while back. OpenSports was competitive, like a few percentage points plus a small fixed fee per transaction. It's listed on their site somewhere if you dig around, but it's not crazy high or anything.

I run a small non-profit youth league. Any chance OpenSports offers discounts for organizations like ours?

R Rachel Hall 6 days ago
Oh, I think they do! I saw something about non-profit discounts when I was looking at pricing plans. Definitely worth reaching out to them about it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they have a special rate for non-profits. I've heard of other small clubs getting a break, so you should inquire.

My friend sent me a referral code for OpenSports. Where do I even put that in when I sign up or whatever?

M Matt Rodriguez 4 weeks ago
When you're signing up for an organizer account, there's usually a field for a referral code on one of the first few steps. Keep an eye out.

I think it pops up during the initial registration process. You can't miss it if you're actually looking for it, I believe it's pretty clear where to enter it to get the credit.

Looking at the pricing, seems like paying annually is cheaper. Anyone know how much of a discount you actually get for annual billing?

S Susan T. 6 days ago
Yeah, it's definitely a noticeable chunk. I think it was like 10-20% off compared to paying monthly. Worth it if you're planning on sticking with them.

I switched to annual billing last year and saved a good bit. It's usually a pretty standard discount, something in that 15-20% range. Makes a difference over a year.

Does anyone know if OpenSports has a free trial for organizers? Wanna test it out before committing to anything.

A Ashley Thompson 3 weeks ago
Yep, they do! I signed up for one when I was setting up my soccer league. Gave me enough time to poke around and see if it fit.

Can confirm, free trial was super helpful. You can get a good feel for the scheduling and payment stuff without having to pay anything upfront.
